Medal ceremony

Yesterday we made the trip out to the country to accept Dad's Voluntary Rescue Association (VRA) 20 year service medal. As it was awarded posthumously the grand kids accepted it on Grandad's behalf.

Albie Schultz (Federal MP) and Katrina Hodgkinson (NSW State MP) presented the medal and the certificate and then we got Grandma up to be in the photo too.

Check out Hamish's hair (he's in the red) - he gave himself a buzz cut - his mother is mortified!

The cousins are coming!

Excitement levels are very high in our house this morning. My sister Anne and her boys are coming to stay for four days. We haven't seen them since January so we can't wait. The kids insisted on making up the beds themselves - one cousin in each of the kids' rooms. They even included a teddy on the pillow :)

Here is a quick share of the latest LO for my travelogue - it's been 12 long months since I was in Europe but the LOs keeping on coming - great memories! This one is of a homeless person's bed - check out the pink sheets and the cardboard bed head - amazing! I had a lot of fun with stitching and fabric - inspired by the girls over at Kim Archer @ Home.

What's your scrapping style?

This is a question that has puzzled me for ages. There is so much discussion out there in cyber-scrapping land about various styles and what defines each one.

I think I've finally discovered my style - I've been trying out a lot of different techniques of late - but when left to my own devices I always come back to clean lines, focus on the pic, journalling that tells a story and not too many embellishments. So, I guess that's my style - simple - sounds a bit harsh but interestingly enough I won an award recently for 'simplicity' so maybe that's a label I can live with! Here's that LO.


And the story behind it? Over the past couple years there's been a lot of construction around Canberra and I discovered that there in the background of all my cityscape pics lurked a crane - this LO celebrates that little quirk.

So, what's your scrapping style? And are you happy with it?

Oh dear, day two of blogging and I failed to update! Friday to Sunday in this house are just not conducive to blogging. Friday marked the first public performance of the Year 5 Band so Mum and I went along to see our oboe player in action. The kids were great especially when you consider they've only had their instruments for about 3 months.

Saturday was a bit of a crazy day with rugby (another win 48-19), lunch with friends and then dinner with our neighbours but I did manage to squeeze in some card-making with Leilani and the girls. Here's one the cards I made. I gave the other card to my neighbour without taking a pic - silly me!

Introducing chaos and mayhem

Since this is primarily a scrapping blog I thought I'd introduce chaos and mayhem by sharing a couple of layouts about them. Some times it's hard to tell which is chaos and which is mayhem so I'll let you decide!
