Sweet Grunge

I've completed another two LOs for Challenge Heaven for this month. This one is for the song challenge - Hush little baby - you also had to include pearls. I've wanted to scrap this photo for ages and this seemed like the perfect challenge :) Although the photo was a bit of a joke, Zoe's constant crying wasn't! The library card behind the pic holds the tale of her crying, our combined pain and the final diagnosis of severe reflux. I wanted the LO to be grungy to play on the earmuffs but not too rough as it was essentially a baby LO. When Jasmine saw this she coined the phrase 'sweet grunge'. I thought it was a perfect description and exactly the look I was hoping for - thanks Jas!

This next one was for the colour challenge – use purple and teal – and a decorative edge. Us in NZ back in March 2004.

My latest interior

I've fallen behind in my scrappy blogging - too busy babbling about other stuff lol.

So, the image for week two of the wp inspiring interiors comp was this gorgeous number:

The extra criteria was to use a photo featuring water. Here's my LO:

Oh and in case you're wondering if Angus has taken up cross dressing, fear not, he developed a love of mascara whilst rehearsing for Wakakirri but I haven't noticed him wearing it post performance night ;)

This is my offering for sketch number 3. I used the fabulous wp Beautiful Morgan kit for it:

The title is game on and the journalling says: When we thought Angus' wouldn't be able to play rugby in 2010, we signed him up fora a referees' course. As it turned out he could play but, he still sat his test and became a junior ref. His first job was for the U9s and the coaches of both teams said he was tough but fair. Angus loved being a ref - particularly since he earned $20 per game.

Living in blogland

The world of blogging is an interesting place. I started my blog quietly and many members of my extended family are still blissfully unaware of its existence. I've never linked it to my facebook page or even talked about it generally. Sure people visit – and leave wonderful blog love and my MIL is a regular and popular visitor, but I just never felt the need to ‘put it out there’.

I should have been more attuned to the butterfly effect of the worldwide web. My secret is out, one of my colleagues, whilst searching for a photograph of himself stumbled across my blog. This led to a conversation, overheard by others and suddenly news of blog was out.

I have always had great plans of writing witty or insightful commentary but usually I just end up posting my creations. On the weekend I suggested a friend start a blog instead of posting her every conscious thought as a status update on fb. To my surprise she started blogging the very next day! And, damn it, it her first post was indeed both thought-provoking and relevant. Serves me right really...

Life in the fast lane

After the frantic pace of last weekend I was hoping for a slower version this time around. No such luck! I had forgotten all about Angus' Rugby 7s Carnival. So, today was spent on the side of the footy field watching Angus play 11 games - that boy has the staying power most people can only dream of. But before today's marathon effort he kicked off his weekend with indoor cricket, supporting his mates in their AFL grand final and Spring Carnival.

Zoe on the other hand crammed her weekend with a birthday party, ice skating, chocolate éclair making, a brawl via sms with one of her friends and vast amounts of homework.

Rob continued his gruelling ironman training and I smiled and nodded at the three of them as they passed through the house or climbed into and out of the car at various locations. But in between these comings and goings I did a couple of LOs and Rob surprised me by taking me out for dinner on Friday night which was just lovely!

So, here are my scrappy shares. First up is my take on the Challenge Heaven sketch:



Next is the CH word challenge - use heart in the title and a scalloped edge. My title is This face could melt the hardest heart.

And this one is a just because LO. I found these photos during a recent cybercrop but didn't end up using them. They're of Rob and I dressed to go to our friends' medieval wedding. We both know it was before we had kids but neither of use can remember exactly when it was . I've sent off an email to confirm the details but until I hear back the journalling tag will have to remain empty...

So, what's news?

Hmm, well first up, here is my final LO for the wp cc. Kerry's challenge was to scraplift a gallery LO from August and to include your dream. So I chose to lift Barb because she does the best grungy boy LOs. My Lo is titled Not just a boy and that is my dream - for people not to box Angus in because of his gender - boys are so much more than society credits them for and this boy of mine is proof that boys are clever, creative and funny and some them just don't get how to build stuff!
BTW - I was very excited to get the wp newsletter today cos this LO won a prize woohoo! Angus was very chuffed :)
