Surfing the web

My knee is still giving me grief - another week (at least) on crutches *sigh* so very dull! Rob has suggested I spend my days online shopping - seems a bit extreme but I have done quiet a lot of web surfing and blog hopping.

I was lucky enough to win a prize on Challenge Heaven last month - a voucher from the Stamp Spot - if you haven't checked it out yet you should - I got lots of yummy stuff (ok so I have been doing a tad of online shopping lol).

It seems crazy but even though I can't go anywhere or do anything I haven't scrapped much this week - but I have done Lisa's challenge over at Scrapability Sketches. Lis challenged us to create a LO - using no pp (the blue in my LO is fabric), a painted background, five buttons, a one word title and masking tape. It was a lot of fun and I finally used my Tim Holtz mini-mask.

unFIT :(

This morning, at the ungodly hour of 6.30am, I ran a 5km time trial with FIT - Females in Training - another hair-brained scheme courtesy of my swimming buddy, Nerida.

To be honest I quite enjoyed myself even when it poured with rain... I ran the 5km in 34 minutes - not too shabby for a first go! So, when I got home I thought I'd better document my outing with a photo of my gorgeous drowned rat look. I hadn't realised what a lovely shade of pink I was lol.

The kids immediately decided they needed to take a self-portrait too - here's Angus' effort. He claimed it turned out this way because of his height - hmm - think you're kidding yourself buddy!
And then Zoë had a turn and check this out! She's got self-portraits down pat :)


Anyway - enough of the kid antics - back to me! My knee was a little sore after the run and when I got out of the car at home it had completely seized up. A trip to the physio has confirmed that I've damaged my cartilage and I'm now on crutches - what a goose! Fingers crossed the cartilage is merely bruised and will be all good in a week or so.

And now after that sports report let's turn our attention back to scrapping :)

Continuing to indulge my love of Kim Archer @ Home workshops, I signed up for a class designed by Yvette Adams called Glitter Couture. I've been a fan of Yvette's for a quite while now and this class was fab. Lots of lovely glittery touches and three beautiful LOs to complete.

Here's my first LO using a photo of Krissy and her husband (for the photo swap over at WP). I was really pleased with how it turned out - hope Krissy likes it too - it's winging its way to her right now :) I used pearl glimmermist on the serviette and it gave it a fabulous shimmery effect (Yvette used a dressmakers pattern on her LO but I don't have any of that and the plain serviette looked a bit stark).

Friday Night Live

Wow, two posts in two days! Don't think that will happen very often...

I mentioned in my last post that I'd taken part in Kim Archer's Friday Night Live workshop. So, here without further ado is what I created.

Are you ready for this?

Hello! A big thank you to all the lovely girls who have visited recently. it's so cool getting comments from fellow scrappers who have stumbled across my blog while travelling in cyberspace :)

When I going running I often write blog posts in my head. I rarely translate them into the real deal, I guess I get distracted by whatever is happening at home when I return from my run. But here's what I was thinking on Friday - nothing earth shattering - just some random happy thoughts:

Nature has been turning on her charm here of late. Each day arrives like a present, wrapped in fog, and slowly the layers are peeled back to reveal a perfectly clear sky and warm, soft sunshine - magic! It's the sort of weather that makes you want to run outside and leave all that mundane boring stuff like work and housework behind :) It's the sort of weather that makes me realise I am very lucky to live the life I do! So, I hope whatever you're doing, that you take the time to look around and appreciate the little things - trees with leaves of red, wagging doggy tails and laughing toddlers throwing bread to the ducks - the building blocks of happiness...

And now, some scrappy shares:

This one is my take on the Wicked Princesses May sketch - Angus and his friend Calvin at Canberra Stadium - they were lucky enough to be invited to the Brumbies Captain's Run - they got to chat with all their favourite players and watch them train - but still Calvin wouldn't smile for a photo!


This next one was for the Quote challenge over at Challenge Heaven - Rob's birthday. I've been desperate to use those puffy alphas - you can't see it in the photo but they have polka dots on them - very cool :)


This one was for a photo swap over at Scapability. We each had to provide two 4x6 photos. I really struggled with this one - not sure why - maybe the pressure of creating for someone else? I sat looking at the photos for days and finally using some Wendy Smith style for inspiration - I love her double clusters and frames - this is what I came up with. Think the photos' owner like it?


And now a just because LO. I think this one started out being for the Scrap the Girls colour challenge but it morphed into another palette completely. I struggled with this one too - so I'm thinking now that using two 4x6 photos, one landscape, one portrait is not my thing!

This is such a funny photo of Zoë - her arm looks enormous! Cheeky girl pretended it was broken for April Fool's Day.


This weekend I've taken part in Kim Archer's Friday Night Live and I done four LOs but I'll share those another day (when I photograph them).

LOs to share

It was a gorgeous day here and I finally remembered to photograph my LOs - so I have a few to share.

The first two are from Jen Hall's workshop at the S&C Escape.


The next one is a just because LO that I did at the retreat - my kidlets way back in 2003. I first scrapped this pic back in my CM days but of course it is crammed onto a page with lots of others...funny how things change :)

This next one is based on Krissy's National Scrapbooking Day sketch (I flipped and mirrored it). The photo is of the little handmade goodies I received at the Kim Archer Home|Away retreat. I used my hat and its pompom trim, as well as the greeting tag on the LO :)

Next is my Ebony and Ivory LO for Challenge Heaven - this month the extra colour was yellow and the criteria was polka dots. Here's what I came up with. Those photos of Angus crack me up!

Ok, last one! I did this last night for the May challenge over at Bliss. The challenge was to create a LO using scraps. I actually used colour cardstock for the base - it's been a while but I was looking for bright and happy and I think I nailed it lol. Photos are from the Kim Archer retreat.

And coloured backgrounds are so much easier to photograph - it doesn't matter what I do the white cs always ends up a dodgy colour...

Something for Kate

At last some new photos of Mio and Hayato!

This photo was from their first official photo shoot - dressed up in matching outfits. It was taken on 4th April when they were much smaller :)

On the 8th May Mio weighed in at 3765 grams and Hayato at 5012 grams.

It's been a while...

...since I updated my blog. But here I am back again :) Time has not been my friend of late, life has been speeding away! So, just a brief update today before I head off to wrestle time back into a slower, more comfortable rhythm.

I went on the Shop and Crop Escape last weekend and had a fabbo time. I caught up with Julie and Kylie again (we met at the first Escape three years ago) and met some new forum buddies including Ange from the Princesses - very cool!

For some reason I haven't taken many photos of the LOs I completed at the Escape but here are two that I did while I was away for the latest Challenge Heaven challenges.

I was given the SOUL April kit to play with and here's what I came up with - I created three LOs and still have enough bits left over for a card.


Using the kit I did these next two for the SOUL cc - the first is my example for the number challenge I set - 1 decorative edge, 2 photos, 3 pp and 4 buttons. I took the photos when I was in Berry in January - I love that photos can show you how something feels.


Julie's challenge was to scrap photos taken from a different angle. Angus takes photos of angles I don't even see - he took these one day when he was crouching down behind the lounge! Sorry about the dodgy pic!

I also did a LO using Krissy's sketch for the Wicked Princesses cc. I used some more of the photos Rae gave me. This is Rob, his Mum (Rae) and his Grandma in Scotland in 1974 - don't you love Rob's pants?

Hmm, it's no wonder I have a problem with time - if this is a brief post then I am indeed a monkey's uncle lol. TFSB :)
