Top 50 April Sketch

Chloe created a great sketch this month over at Scrapbooking Top 50. I love it when a LO just comes together. I had a lot of fun pulling out some of my older My Vintage Blossoms embellies and adding some newer bits and bobs.

My journalling is on the hello tab - this pair are still inseparable - a regular mutual admiration society - both as reckless and fun loving as the other.

Scrap the Girls

It's been ages since I played along at Scrap the Girls but this month's challenge caught my eye: scrapbook your girls using traditional boy colour schemes and some "boyish" embellishments!!!Remember no boys allowed, just boy stuff!!

Here's what I came up with:

Thanks to the end of daylight savings, I had a peaceful hour to myself this morning to create this. I started off with some gesso and added some stamping, rub ons, washi tape, dylusionals and grungeboard. I softened the overall effect with some tissue paper, brads and sequins - Zoe loved it, further proof she's not the super-girly type :)

Scrappy Saturday

Reading the Stampin Up catalogue got me feeling creative this morning. So I whipped up this using the remains of a kit I found when I was doing a stash clean out. I love Jillibean Soup :)

Then I thought I should finish off this layout that's been kicking around for awhile now. It's also the result of my stash decluttering. So far I haven't managed to get rid of much but I've been using up some lovely rediscovered bits and pieces. Anyway, I went old-school and added a smattering of buttons, a date stamp - using my latest SU purchase - love how cleanly it stamps and, some journaling.  Done :)

Then since I was photographing those two, I snapped this one as well. It was for the colour challenge over at Top 50 but somehow I just never quite managed to load it to their gallery... I've had that peanut bag for years (seriously at least five, maybe more) so, I was pretty happy to have finally used it. I know I've scrapped this photo before but I really didn't like that LO so I scrapped it again - it's not like I'm going to run out of scrapping supplies anytime soon.

Happy Saturday! I'm off to doing some more creating. Maybe you are too? Enjoy!

SUYS Design Team

Late last year the gorgeous Vicki, of Top 50, contacted me saying she'd taken over the Show Us Your Stuff Challenge Blog and she also asked me to join the design team. Bit chuffed on both accounts :)

Anyway the new year has rolled around and the first challenge is up. It's a mood board:

And here's my take on it, I picked out the blue, green and pink with a splash of gold:

My handmade items are the cork shapes from the Trinket Track (although I must have had them for awhile as I got them when Monica was still known as Apple Tree Lane).

There's lots of other great inspiration to be had on the blog so, check it out!

Happy scrapping :)

Scraptacular

Day 9 of my holidays and I finally got to drag with scrapping supplies out. Woohoo, happy days! I whipped up three layouts, not bad considering I had to go to the garage and dust off my tote first.

This one is for the Top 50 sketch challenge - I flipped and rotated it.

I'm a big fan of Dr Karl Kurszelnicki, the first documented use of the word 'selfie' is on his blog and he's now decided that a selfie with others should be called a groupie. I like it, hence my title!

This month SFS had a massive four challenges to choose from. I've done the first two. They're all 1,2,3,4 challenges. Fun:)

Challenge 1
  • ONE photo
  • TWO word title
  • THREE embellishments
  • FOUR papers

I also added 5 sequins.

Challenge 2
  • One word title
  • Two pieces of Washi
  • Three Stars
  • Four circle embellies

I knew it had been a while since I'd scrapped when I sprayed my stamp cleaning mat with blue tumble dye instead of stamping scrub - oops! The best bit is I cleaned the stamp before I realised my mistake...

High ho, it's off to scrap I go!

Riding the metaphor train

It seems like a eternity since I had some time off, almost as long ago as I posted here! Life has barrelled past like a country train, throwing up rocks and dust, blowing hot air in my face and causing the landscape to blur. I feel that same sense of disconnection as I used to feel standing beside the tracks as a kid. Why wasn't I on the train, rushing to a destination far more glamorous and exciting than where I was, standing in a paddock in the sun?

How is it that I'm still not on the train? Surely if that's my life I should be in the driver's seat, heading for a destination of my choosing? Circumstance and opportunity are strange beasts. But for the next two and a half weeks, I am in charge of the train, I've switched tracks and am taking the scenic route. I may not visit this blog again but who knows I just may return and linger (wouldn't that be nice?!).

I also hear the refreshments on this service are a wonder to behold :-)

All aboard!
