It's not as though the thrill has gone...

Looking for some CC action this weekend?

Look no further:

So, don your leg warmers and shoulder pads, grab your boombox and I'll see you there :)

My knee is coming along nicely. Today I walked 750m without crutches. Sparky dog was delighted to accompany me to the corner and back :) He did think our progress was tad pedestrian though! I, on the other hand, had to have a sit down to recover.

Meanwhile I've be putting my downtime to good use.

This is my LO for the Challenge Heaven blind scrap - I turned it on its side cos I had a portrait photo (well three photos really). My mad Sparky was convinced there was something in the drain and wouldn't stop squeaking and pawing at it. I put a pot over the drain but that didn't stop him - he tried to dig under the pot. So, much for the plants in that bit of the garden :(

Over at SOUL a pic was provided as inspiration:

Perfect colours for my wp pearls and lace kit.

And this one was the most fun! Princess Kate challenged all the princesses to cover a cover this month. This is the book cover Kate chose:

And this is my take on it:

Ok that's it for me - catch you next time :)

Eye of the Tiger

Well here I am on the other side of my knee op - a tad bruised and battered but certainly the better for it. I now have a knee that bends and straightens, oh sure I have a gait like a drunken sailor and I wince every time I shift my leg but the operation was a definite success :) So, it's crutches for another day and then it's full steam ahead - walking unaided, swimming and cycling mid July, running end August.

And now for the scrapping rap!

The night before my op I did the wp speed scrap. The wonderful Jules sent me a huge parcel of goodies and I used them to create this LO. Thanks again Jules, your surprise package made my day and this LO ;) Zoë at about five months.

I recently purchased the wp Fresh Print Kit. Princess Kate created a step by step LO using it. I started out following Kate's design - she has a great eye for structure and balance and then I added a few bits to make it my own - it's another baby Zoë LO:

These photos actually strike fear into both mine and Rob's hearts. They were taken during a week at the coast with Rob's Mum and her husband. A week in which Zoë did not sleep a wink during any of the seven nights. We were at our wits end and she was cheery and bossy and completely unfazed by the lack of sleep. I was six months pregnant and more than a tad tired and emotional. Neither of us are sure how we survived but luckily the LO is about her funky duds not her dud sleeping habits!

Scrapability held a cc the long weekend and I completed this LO for the first challenge. Oddly it's yet another featuring baby Zoë. Gosh I must be feeling sentimental...

This weekend is the cc over at Challenge Heaven. So, far I've done Amanda's challenge - another 'old school' pic but this time it's of five year old Angus.

I plan to spend the next few days completing the rest of the challenges - not much else I can do with one leg stuck out in front of me ;)

TFSB - stay warm (or cool) depending on where you live.

Today...

...is the six-month anniversary of Glenn's death. It's also his wife, Roslyn's Birthday - tough double act! Roslyn's friends rallied round and we had a wonderful High Tea to help her celebrate in style. The dress code included red and a tiara. We were fabulous princesses to Roslyn's Queen!

Not long after Glenn died Roslyn asked me to make her an album, she mentioned it again last week so I decided to get the ball rolling by making the first LO as a birthday gift. Lydia supplied her photos of choice - taken by her a couple of years ago - just an ordinary afternoon at home with her Dad tickling her little brother till he screamed :)

I found this LO really hard to do. I guess it's because there is so much emotion attached... Looking at these photos and knowing that there will never again be lazy afternoons at home as a whole family, knowing that Roslyn will never get to snuggle on the lounge with her husband again. Looking at the face of the little boy who will never again enjoy being tickled by his Dad, thinking about the girl behind the camera who is missing her Dad more than she understand...

So, it's not the best LO I've ever done but it might just be the most important.

Stir crazy

... yep, that's me! My knee surgery is booked in for next Wednesday and depending on what needs to be done I may be on crutches for 3-4 weeks afterwards or I may be walking straight away. Let's hope it's the latter :)

Anyway enough of that! Time for some proud mummy moments...

Yesterday Angus played in the ACT primary schools rugby carnival - the conditions were appalling it was 4 degrees at 2pm - crazy! But those kids love their rugby and were undeterred by the snow clouds and their chattering teeth! Angus' team brought home the champion's trophy with not a point scored against them in any of their four games.

Meanwhile Zoë has been earning gold medals of her own at the Eisteddfod. Both her jazz band and concert band were awarded gold. Zoë's flute solo was magnificent :)

I've scrapped a couple of LOs this week - this one is for the sketch challenge over at Challenge Heaven. My kids crack me up with the hats they wear and the way they trash talk each other's choices. So, I took some photos on a cold and frosty morning.

I can't reveal my other LO as it is for Bridge's blogger scrapping whispers. I received my whisper from Elise and it was divine - here's a sneak of what I created. I can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with.

Stay warm!

Not so sneaky now...

Well the time has come to reveal my LO :)

Here is the WP June sketch #2

and here is my take on it. That's my Mum and Dad :)

I'd love to see your take on the sketch in the WP gallery!

And now for something completely different. Check out this link to a you tube clip - interesting food for thought (particularly if you have kids) and it only takes a moment to play.

Before I go I have a funny story to share.

This photo of Angus was taken by our friend Dave at the Wallabies training session.

Now before I saw this photo Dave asked me if Angus had told me that he'd had his photo taken with the Wallabies' coach. I later asked Angus which coach it was and he told me 'the white one'. I assumed he meant Robbie Deans as Jim Williams and Patricio Noriega are both brown-skinned. Then I saw the photo... I'd call that a bus lol.

Here's a shot of Angus at the game on against Fiji - our front row seats were awesome.

Go the Wallabies :)

At last I can be a bit sneaky!

I love it when people put sneak peaks up on their blogs. Usually I'm scraping in just before the deadline with my LOs so there is no opportunity or need for a sneak. Today, however is different, I have a sneak to share :) This is my LO for the 2nd June WP sketch - I used the WP pearls and lace kit. It landed on my doorstep yesterday and demanded to be used immediately! All will be revealed on Monday.

This is the LO I did for Renee's challenge during the Challenge Heaven cc. You had use 3 pics, 3 pps and 3 fonts.

And now I have the two LOs that were done for me as part of photo swaps. This first one is by Bek Lynch from Scrapability Sketches - I love all the detail on this - so cool thanks Bek :)

And the this one is by Krissy Christie from WP. Don't you love all that gorgeous purple and beautiful butterfly?! Thanks Krissy - it's fabbo :)

Hope you're having a great weekend! We're off to the Wallabies tonight - it's going to be a cracker of a game :)

Oh and in a depressing footnote my knee is not getting better so I'll be going under the knife in the next week or so. But on a brighter note I should be back running within four weeks.

TFSB!

Wicked news

Krissy has decided to put together a little team of Wicked Princess Sketchies. I'm very chuffed that she asked me to be one - woo hoo - I love Krissy's sketches :) Big congratulations to Sara too!

This is my LO using the first June sketch.

I decided it was time to do a LO of Angus that didn't feature flowers - not that he minds but I felt the need to challenge myself lol.

I did this next LO for Kerry's challenge during the WP cc. I struggled with it a bit but was happy with how it turned out in the end. I love this pic of my Mum. But her fringe makes me laugh!

TFSB :)
